OFCS RELEASES NEW BALANCED SCORECARDS

OF District Infographic 2017-2018

Olmsted Falls City School District is excited to share our new Balanced Scorecards, which have been created locally to report out to our school community information about how we are working to inspire and empower our students each and every day.

These Balanced Scorecards provide information and evidence under the four key components of our district’s Strategic Plan: Student Success; Aligned Resources; Technology Enabled and Community Partnerships.

A Balanced Scorecard has been created for each individual school building as well as for the district as a whole.  Each scorecard also has a companion Infographic Guide providing deeper descriptions of each component of information being reported on.

We invite you to click on any or all of the links below to explore our new Scorecards:

NEW STADIUM SCOREBOARD RESULT OF NEW CORPORATE PARTNERSHIPS

ScoreBoard1Olmsted Falls City School District is excited to announce the successful launch of a new digital marketing initiative that includes a new scoreboard in the stadium, a large video board in the high school’s main gym and video displays in and outside the high school auditorium. This new equipment makes possible the creation of a new alternative revenue stream for the school district and a new way to connect and partner with regional businesses and organizations.

Leading the way as Gold Level Corporate Sponsors are First Federal Lakewood, Ganley Westside Imports Subaru, Ryco Sports and Southwest General. The Olmsted Falls School District is sincerely grateful to each of our new Gold Sponsors and looks forward to publicly thanking them at the final home game of the season on Friday, October 19th. Each Gold Sponsor is featured on the new scoreboard with permanent signage and also featured in other promotional opportunities.

CP_left

The new stadium scoreboard was installed just ahead of the September 28th varsity home game and had a successful trial run that evening. We look forward to seeing it in operation again at the Homecoming game against Midview Friday night, October 12th, and at the final regular season home game on Friday, October 19th. Thank you again to our inaugural Gold Sponsors for making this new initiative become a reality so quickly!

AR_upperRightThere are additional digital marketing opportunities for sponsorships at the Blue and White levels. Olmsted Falls City School District looks forward to continuing to grow this new initiative which is a win-win for our students and our sponsorship partners. OFCS joins a growing number of school systems pursuing outside-the-box programs to generate new revenue streams. Once fully implemented, the new digital marketing program will generate additional financial resources that can be spread across programs that represent the district’s core business of academics, arts and athletics.

Anyone interested in learning more about the district’s new digital marketing initiative is encouraged to contact Olmsted Falls Superintendent Dr. Jim Lloyd at 440.427.6000 or by email at jlloyd@ofcs.net.

The National Merit Scholarship Program is a national program that provides scholarship dollars to students who participate in the National Merit (PSAT 11) qualifying test. There are about 16,000 semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program, which represents less than one percent of high school seniors. Semifinalists qualify through their PSAT scores.  After the preliminary testing process, students submit applications detailing their academic record and extra-curriculars. They also submit essays, obtain a recommendation from a school official and have qualifying SAT scores.

About 15,000 are expected to advance to finalist status. Finalists have the opportunity to win one of about 7,500 scholarships, which total about $31 million. Finalists will be notified in February and scholarships announced beginning in April.  Congratulations again to these outstanding OFHS students for this national recognition!

OFHS CAREER EXPLORATION DATABASE

Did You Know?  Olmsted Falls High School has a Career Exploration Database of volunteers willing to help our high school students learn more about a wide variety of career fields.  Launched in 2015, our Career Exploration Database provides a listing of organizations and companies in the surrounding region that are willing to provide our high school and middle school students with experiences that might include: discussing careers, job shadowing, internship or externship opportunities, and so on. We currently have a list of more than 100 parents and local community members in our Career Exploration Database and it has become a highly valuable resource to our students.

student successEnsuring that all of our students leave Olmsted Falls Schools with identified career pathways to their future success is a priority for our District. An important component of the Strategic Plan as it relates to Student Success is providing a variety of opportunities for students to explore their potential career interests in a real world setting. Having a network of opportunities available for our students to plug into will be a valuable part of helping them to identify pathways for their future.

CP_leftWe are currently seeking to further expand this database across all career fields to ensure that we have resources available for whatever area our students are interested in exploring. We are especially in need of volunteers from the following fields: architecture, banking, communications, environmental science, marketing and medical physicians.

If you or someone you know is interested in adding your name and area of expertise to our growing database, please click HERE to provide your information online for our Career Exploration Database.

If you have questions or would like to learn more, you can also contact OFHS College & Career Counselor Aimee Caldrone at 427-6100.
